In this video, we talk about Wisconsin’s unique public benefit program, who may be eligible, and what kinds of services may be covered. We also share a brief overview of how to apply for coverage – a topic addressed in more detail in a separate video as well.

What is “FPL?” Why is it used to help determine financial eligibility? How do you calculate it? We answer these questions – and share some helpful online tools – to make the conversations you with families about “FPL” easier!

Who is eligible to enroll in BadgerCare Plus – both financially and considering other criteria? We take a quick look at eligibility criteria, and share the “Am I Eligible” feature on the state’s ACCESS Website that is sure to help!

In this video, we discuss the 4 ways to apply for BadgerCare Plus. We familiarize you with ACCESS, the state’s online application, and give good tips on how to get started with an online application – including how to make your own account on ACCESS!

What is this “MAGI” acronym that is used to talk about income? We explain what MAGI is, why it matters, and an easy way to make the calculation – to make sure people aren’t wrongly excluded from coverage!

In this video, we share tips on how and when to make a referral for more detailed assistance for the families you’re working with. But, it all starts with a good first conversation with that family! We share contact information and best practices!

A Little More Detail...

Videos that look at program rules that go beyond the basics!
4

In this video, we cover the rule for determining who is financially eligible for BadgerCare Plus. We’ll look at the Federal Poverty Level thresholds, as determined by household income and family size.

4

In this video, we cover one of the non-financial eligibility rules – residency requirements. You have to be in Wisconsin, with an intent to stay to apply for BadgerCare Plus. But there are a few exceptions! We’ll talk about the rule and the exceptions in this video!

2

In this video, we cover one of the non-financial eligibility rules – the “access to insurance” rules. You’ll need to know if a child has access to a parent’s employer sponsored insurance before applying for BadgerCare Plus…but that’s not where the inquiry ends. You need to know the child’s ages and household income. Here’s a short summary of how this rule works.

1

In this video, we cover one of the non-financial eligibility rules – the immigration status rules. You’ll need to know if an individual is a citizen or legal permanent resident. But that’s not all. Here’s a short summary of how this rule works.

4

What is this “MAGI” acronym that is used to talk about income? We explain what MAGI is in more detail, why it matters, and an easy way to make the calculation – to make sure people aren’t wrongly excluded from coverage!

3

In this video, we talk about a category of BadgerCare Plus eligibility that is frequently overlooked – coverage for newborns for the entire first year of their life. We’ll tell you which newborns this applies to!

2

In this video, we cover the rule for making coverage “retroactive.” There are different rules for children and adults. We share the rule and links to read more.

1

In this video, we discuss who owes a monthly premium payment to be able to keep BadgerCare Plus, exceptions to that rule, and how to make that payment.

1

In this video, we share a best practice in working one-on-one with families. We talk about using “people first” language – talking about the person BEFORE describing their condition, disability, or diagnosis.
